A Christmas Surprise on Saipan aims to ring Christmas cheer to family in need
“A Christmas Surprise on Saipan” aims to bring Christmas cheer, along with goods, services or monetary gifts, to a family on Saipan. This initiative was created by construction and real estate development company Pacific Rim, in media partnership with KZMI 103.9FM and Marianas Variety.
Anyone can nominate a family but program organizers ask that individuals do not submit their own family. The winning family must live on Saipan, but there are no restrictions on nationality, ethnicity, sex, family size, or other similar factors.
“We know 2020 has been a challenging year, and many families haven’t recovered from the devastation of recent typhoons,” said Keith Stewart, Pacific Rim president and founder of “A Christmas Surprise on Saipan.”
“We want to identify a family who has experienced hardship and could use some Christmas cheer during the holiday season,” Stewart said.
The winning family will receive a prize package catered to their specific needs based on what is determined from the nomination form. Prizes may include, but are not guaranteed to include, gifts, equipment, monetary donations, food, sponsorships, and/or a wide variety of other items. They will also receive a special Christmas surprise by having their home decorated for the holiday season.
“We don’t have a set prize package as we want to determine what would really help the winning family. We know that everyone has different hardships, so it could be that the family has fallen on hard times due to illness, financial difficulties, or other trying circumstances. Our goal is to provide a prize that will help ease their struggles,” Stewart said.
Community members are encouraged to nominate a deserving family by visiting www.ChristmasSurprise.org. Those nominating a family are encouraged to be detailed in describing the family’s hardship and need to help the committee understand the family’s situation. Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 30, 2020.
“For the nominations, we are looking for stories that will really capture the hearts of the executive committee, as well as our community,” Stewart said.
