Head Start to have two more trainings
The Head Start program in the CNMI will begin first day of instructions on Aug. 12 but before that, teachers and staff will continue with their trainings on Aug. 9-10. “Tinian and Rota will also have trainings after the training is done here on Saipan,” said site coordinator Keiko Yamagata.
The sessions form part of the trainings held during the 8th Annual Outer Pacific Head Start Workshops, which was conducted on July 6-7, said Yamagata.
“This trainings are specifically for the CNMI, though. They cover the mental health curriculum,” she said.
Head Start teachers participated in 14 sessions that included managing challenging behaviors, parents as leaders, fun with food in the classroom, parenting skills, early learning environment, Motheread/Fatheread, enhancing self esteem and performance, and teaching learning cycles.
Two health and disabilities coordinators, Josephine Tudela and Rita Carreon, will conduct the first session on Aug. 9.
Family and community partnership coordinator Malua Peter will lead the other session on Family Partnership training on Aug. 10.
Head Start teachers will later be informed on the schedule for the trainings and where it will be conducted. (Cassie DLG Fejeran)
