To promote physical activity, fitness, sports, and good overall health, the Division of Public Health is collaborating with other agencies to sponsor the “3 on 3 Back 2 School Street Basketball Jam” on Saturday, July 24, from 9am to 4pm, at the Susupe Civic Center Basketball Court.
The event committees are inviting five-man teams from two age groups—14-and-under and 18-and-under—to join.
Each player is required to complete a registration form, signed parental waivers, and a photocopy of an identification card.
Teams participating in the event are 69ers (both 14-and-under and 18-and-under), Spiders, G-Blue, G-Riders, G-Crew, What, Magic, Suns, Ballers, Karahu, Makos, Sparks1, Sparks2, and G-Magic.
The event is calling on three or more 14-and-under teams to make a total of 8 teams.
Registration fee is $25 per team at five players per team.
In a letter to Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, Public Health Secretary James U. Hofschneider said the competitive event will also include health and fitness promotion activities, along with exhibits and interactive demonstrations promoting physical fitness by various sports organizations and public health staff.
The event will have live entertainment provided by Power 99 disc jockey Joe Camacho and Sam Joyner’s Group-Jake, CCC, No Time 4 Boyz, and the K2B dancers.
An interactive health information booth and activities will also be featured, along with a variety of food and refreshments for sale.
Various sports and fitness organizations will be on hand promoting their organizations through demonstrations and on-site recruitment.
Sponsoring the event are the Division of Public Health, Community Guidance Center, Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, Division of Youth Services, Women’s Affairs Office, United Filipino Organization, Marianas High School, Saipan Mayor’s Office and Power 99.
