Two out of three isn’t that bad.

That’s exactly what the CNMI All-Stars did last week in Guam in the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament in Junior, Senior, and Big League.

The Junior League All-Stars and Senior League All-Stars went through the backdoor in shocking host Guam in the championship last Wednesday at the Paseo Stadium in Agana.

The CNMI’s best 13-14-year-olds turned back Guam 5-4 in the day’s first championship game, while the Senior Leaguers handed the hosts a 2-1 beating hours later. Both teams along with the second place Big League All-Stars returned to Saipan Friday.

In other sports news last week, the Century Insurance Co. Tennis Classic wrapped with Faheem Ebrahim and Mayuko Arriola topping the men’s open and the women’s 4.0, respectively.

Basketball also was big the past seven days with action in the 2004 UFO-San Miguel Cup and 2004 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League bringing in the crowd at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
