Council lauds agri fair winners, association

The 8th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council recently adopted a series of commemorative resolutions recognizing and congratulating the 25th annual “Silver Jubilee” Saipan Agricultural Fair winners in the animals and plants divisions.

Anthony A. and Pedro A. Deleon Guerrero were declared the grand prize winner in the Animal division of the agricultural fair while Ramon B. Camacho walked away with the first runner-up honors; Eliceo M. Castro took second runner-up position, while Edward A. Flores settled for third runner-up.

In the Plants division, former congressman William (Bill) C. Ada captured the grand prize; Ramon B. Camacho took first runner-up honors; Serafin P. Tudela walked away as second runner-up; while Juan C. Aguon settled for third runner-up.

The Saipan Agricultural Association is managed and directed by its officers and members Donald G. Flores, president; Mac Chargualaf, vice president; Dr. Ike Dela Cruz, secretary-treasurer and chairman, Animal Division; George Moses; Aldabert Concepcion, chairman, Rules Committee; Vic Deleon Guerrero, chairman, Plant Division; Ben Borja, chairman, Solicitation Committee; Isidoro T. Cabrera, Chairman, Concession and Tabulation; Juan F. Borja (dec.) member; Steve Kileleman, member; Ray Ngeskebei, member; and Diego B. Camacho, member.

The 25th Saipan Agricultural Fair was collaboratively set up by the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, the Northern Marianas College Agricultural Life Science and the Commonwealth Development Authority.

Over 100 plants and animal producers, including youths, gathered at the Civic Center (Old Legislature and Sabalu Market Ground) in Susupe to participate in May’s events.

The resolution also mentioned that in recognition and memory of the many years of dedicated services and contributions to the Saipan Agricultural Fair Association, the members of the Association prays for the departed soul of the late member Juan Faisao Borja.

“The member of the Municipal Council join the people of the CNMI in extending special recognition and congratulations to the winners and to the members of the Saipan Agricultural Fair Association and to other participants for a job well done in making the 25th Annual “Silver Jubilee” Saipan Agricultural Fair exciting, challenging, memorable and enjoyable events,” states part of the resolutions.

The resolutions were certified by chairman Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chairman David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela.
