Boyet Sequioco won his second consecutive Miller Lite Invitational 8-Ball Tournament last Thursday at Round Two Bar and Grill in Garapan.

And Sequioco sure picked the right time to pull off the trick by winning the big bucks edition of the tournament.

His successful title defense proves that the 40-something security company employee has indeed regained his stature as one of the island’s top pool artists.

Sequioco began the evening like he usually does the past few weeks—on a bye. He then hurdled compatriot Senen Pangilinan in his first trip to the green felt table before dismissing Korean Kim Wook to advance to the winners bracket final.

Ranged against American Jon Morris, the Filipino would make all the right moves and was the first player to advance to the finals, which earned him the invaluable twice-to-beat advantage in the championship round.

After watching Morris finish off Japanese Naoji Tominaga in the losers bracket final, Sequioco was a bit rusty, struggled a bit and lost Game 1 to Morris.

But with his back against the wall and the championship reduced to a one-game affair for all the marbles, Sequioco stopped Morris on his tracks to win the championship and the $115 first-place prize that goes along with it.

Morris settled for the $65 runner-up purse, while Tominaga was awarded $45 for finishing third.

Other Round Two regulars that graced the Thursday billiards competition at the pioneering sports bar were Mark Vidal, David Peter, Toshi Nogami, and Joe Shaffer.

Last week, the Olangapo, Philippines native went unscathed in winning the title over sure-shot Jerry Soriano.

Round Two didn’t host a Sunday and Tuesday tournament this past week.

Round Two hosts three regular tournaments a week. The Sunday Winner-Take-All Fun Tournament starts at 1pm and entry costs is $5 per player. Depending on the number of lady participants, the competition switches from regular to an 8-ball handicap format.

The Tuesday Ladies Handicap 8-Ball Tournament is held every Tuesday starting at 8pm and has an entry fee of $10.

On Thursdays, Round Two holds the exciting Miller Lite Invitational 8-Ball Tournament starting at 8pm. Entry fee is $15 on regular days but goes up to $25 every last Thursday of the month.
