TEENS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED CAR THEFT
Two teenagers were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a theft of vehicle case, according to the Department of Public Safety.
DPS public information officer Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said yesterday that the criminal incident occurred at the Fun & Win Poker establishment in San Jose. The two boys, ages 17 and 14, were later apprehended at about 3:35pm in Garapan.
“It was learned through the preliminary investigation of Patrol Officer Vincent Basa that the victim came to the Fun & Win Poker and had parked his vehicle. The vehicle was left with its windows open and door unlocked. About 30 minutes later, the victim discovered that his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot,” said Blas.
An all-points bulletin was then put out for the stolen car, a silver 1997 Nissan Sentra XE with license plate number ABL-168.
Blas said the car was later spotted by officers Cristin Cabrera and Ned Norita in Garapan, heading north on Beach Road by the Gold Beach Hotel.
“The two officers pursued the vehicle into Middle Road, where it stopped by the Tano Electronics. The passenger of the vehicle was immediately apprehended while the driver fled on foot into the Garapan residential area,” he said.
Blas said the driver was apprehended by Martha’s store by other responding officers.
He said the 17-year-old was identified as the suspect who had stolen the vehicle, and was also the driver at the time of the arrest. (Shan Seman)
MINOR ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED RECKLESS DRIVING, THEFT OF VEHICLE
A female minor was arrested Tuesday afternoon shortly after the Department of Public Safety received a call reporting a reckless driving vehicle within the Capitol Hill area.
DPS public information officer Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said responding officers found the car, a blue 1995 Toyota Corolla with license plate number ABE-218, by the quarry area in Sadog Tasi.
“They found the vehicle on the side of the road parked near a residence,” he said. “The two responding officers then found the suspect in the vehicle.”
Blas said investigation at the scene indicated that the 16-year-old driver was alone and allegedly intoxicated.
“She was then arrested for reckless driving and for minor consuming alcoholic beverages,” he said.
Blas said further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen, resulting in the filing of a theft of vehicle charge against the suspect. (Shan Seman)
