The NMI Crime Stoppers is seeking information from the public about two criminal incidents that occurred on Garapan this month.

The most recent of the two involves a stabbing of a 28-year-old man early Monday morning.

According to Crime Stoppers coordinator Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr., officers responded to the corner of Dollar Days Wholesale shortly after 2am and found the victim, Mino Phillip, who had stab wounds on the left side of his back and shoulder. Medics summoned to the scene immediately brought the victim to the Commonwealth Health Center, where he was treated and admitted for further observation.

“As the victim was interviewed, he could not recall or remember how he got his wounds and as to where he was when the incident occurred. It was also been noted that the victim was intoxicated at the time,” said Blas.

Authorities have yet to identify any suspects involved in the incident.

Blas said that authorities believe that the victim may have been at the Liberation Festival carnival grounds across the Kristo Rai Church.

Crime Stoppers is also seeking tips on an incident in which a 22-year-old female almost fell victim to a kidnapping.

According to Blas, the incident occurred last Tuesday, June 15, on the road behind the Duty Free Shoppers Galleria.

He disclosed that two unidentified suspects attempted to rob and kidnap the victim.

Blas said the victim, whose name was not disclosed, was walking south with a companion when a dark colored four-door sedan approached from behind and slowly paralleled to the two. One of the suspects in the vehicle asked the victim and her companion if they needed a ride, and the two refused the offer.

“At that point, the male suspect in the backseat of the sedan grabbed the victim into the vehicle. The victim struggled with the suspect and managed to escape out of the vehicle as it was driving away, falling out onto the roadway,” he said.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the CHC for treatment.

Anyone with information on these incidents is urged to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau office at 664-9045 or the NMI Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272.

The NMI Crime Stoppers gives out rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Caller ID is not used and all calls remain anonymous.
