Mobil Oil Marianas continued its support of community outreach programs, donating $2,000 to the Safe and Sober Foundation Wednesday morning.

Cecile Bamba-Suda, Mobil’s manager for public relations and government affairs, said the oil company annually makes contributions to assist in community awareness on safety.

“This is one way to contribute to the promoting of educational awareness on various issues, including buckle up, drinking and driving, [and] child restraint,” she said. “We’re always in support of safety education, health, and environment, and we have identified the Safe and Sober Foundation as a strong partner in promoting safety for and within the community.”

Bamba-Suda presented the foundation with the check in front of a safe and sober billboard along Beach Road Chalan Lau Lau across the Quarter Master Road.

On hand to receive the contribution were foundation chair Janice Tenorio and vice chair Sgt. Joe Flores of the Department of Public Safety Traffic Section.

“Mobil has been in support of our program and has annually been donating $2000 every year since 2000,” said Tenorio.

Tenorio also disclosed that the foundation, with the assistance of Mobil, would add a couple more billboards on child restraint and drinking and driving.

“We want to thank Mobil for their donation to this program,” she said. “Working with Cecile has been wonderful. She is a strong supporter of the program and we’re thankful that she took the time to travel to Saipan to work with different partners.”
