The entertainment segment for today’s 2003 Liberation Festival opening ceremony is all set as organizers have booked various musicians and dance groups that will perform this weekend at the Garapan Fishing Base.

The opening ceremony, headed by Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela and eight candidates vying for the Liberation Day queen title, kicks of the events at 6pm.

Following various remarks, introduction of candidates, and recognition of reigning queens and princesses, a set of entertainers have expressed commitment to take the stage.

Kicking off the entertainment are the Te Kanahau Nui Dancers, who will perform at 8-8:30pm. They will be followed by another cultural dance performance by the Carolinian Warriors, who would take center stage at 8:30-9pm.

The evening will then be highlighted by a fireworks show, expected to last some 30 minutes after the dance performance.

Following the fireworks are musical performances from The Kontra Band, Candy Taman, and Marvin Guerrero.

Tomorrow’s entertainment crew includes the W&V Band, Son Ray Band, Ali’i dancers, Fred Saures, and the Archilyn Band.

Sunday’s entertainment features the Topikool Blenz, Kagman Chamolinian Dancers, Isa Dancers, UB Kai Band, Parker, Ace Elameto, and Nolas Kaliga.

The Liberation Festival, headed by the Saipan Mayor’s Office, will run through to July 5. The grounds site also includes various vendors.
