5th graders graduate from GCA
The Grace Christian Academy Auditorium brought together parents, relatives, teachers and staff to mark the graduation ceremony for the school’s 5th grade class last Wednesday.
As in all graduation rites, the GCA’s ceremony was highlighted with the awarding of medals and honors to those students who showed excellent performance throughout the year.
Kamille De Leon, 5th grade class president, was declared the class Valedictorian. She also hauled in several awards, including a Perfect Attendance Award and the Scholastic History Award. Thanking God for His guidance and protection throughout the year, De Leon quoted the Bible: “Remember the Lord in everything you do. And he will give you success.” De Leon also thanked her classmates for the fun times, laughter, jokes and surprises they have shared together.
Love D. Dela Rosa, 5th grade class vice president, received the Citizenship award and Scholastic Spelling award. Dela Rosa’s 2nd highest GPA enabled her to get the Salutatorian award.
Student James Camacho, who received several awards, including the Scholastic Reading Award and 4th highest GPA in his class, took home the Eagle Award.
Rev. Raymond S. Kinsella, who presented Camacho the award, described it as the most prestigious award given by GCA. “The recipient of this award displays high academics, Christian character, and citizenship. This well-rounded character has proven outstanding leadership in class and is involved in a local church,” said Kinsella.
Kinsella, along with school principal Faith Dela Rosa, gave out the awards to the graduates.
The Perfect Attendance award was given to 14 students, while 19 graduates received the honors award.
There followed the presentation of diplomas and the graduates’ presentation of gifts to their parents—ceramic bowls personally designed by the students.
