Chacha Oceanview promotes 233 students
A total of 233 students from the Chacha Oceanview Junior High School are now bound for high school after getting their promotion certificates Tuesday night.
The promotion ceremony at the school grounds was well attended, witnessed by many parents, relatives, dignitaries, school officials, and other students.
Among the attendees was Dr. Debra T. Cabrera, an instructor at the Northern Marianas College, who, in her keynote address, stressed the importance of dovetailing academic excellence with family, culture, relationship values.
Shortly after Cabrera’s address, several students were presented individual awards, including the Top 10, Subject, and Presidential.
Leading the way was valedictorian Ann Rochelle Ermitanio, who posted the highest Grade Point Average during her tenure in junior high school. She was also the recipient of various subject awards and hauled in a presidential award.
Although not present at the ceremony, salutatorian Michael Kohn was still recognized and honored for his efforts in attaining academic excellence. He was also a recipient of various subject awards and a presidential award.
Other students making the elite Top 10 list were Bernadine Montague, Tracy Babauta, Alexis Cabrera, Jessica Taka, Sorene Maratita, John Babauta Jr., Nadia Benjamin, and Verena Cabrera.
Before their final march as students of the school, the graduates gave a rousing performance of the song “I Believe,” which served as their graduation song.
Among the dignitaries on hand to witness the ceremony and present awards were Public School System Education Commissioner Rita H. Inos, Board of Education chair Roman C. Benavente and secretary-treasurer Marja Lee C. Taitano, and Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela.
