The Saipan Chamber of Commerce named four students as recipients of this year’s educational scholarship grants to help them pursue higher education.

Each student received a check worth $2,500, which came from the Chamber’s Educational Scholarship Fund.

The students include Carla Maree D. Calvo of the Marianas Baptist Academy, James H. Arriola of the Northern Marianas Academy, Laura Chaves-Saiki of NMA, and Julia Lizama of Mount Carmel High School.

The Chamber said the students were selected among a pool of some 20 students based on accomplishments in academics and extra-curricular activities.

Calvo has been accepted to attend the University of Washington; Saiki, University of Virginia; Lizama, New York University, Syracuse University and Vassar College; and Arriola, Pomona College, St. John’s University, Loyola-Marymount; Seattle University and Hawaii Pacific University.
