Students end SCS tenure on high note

The Saipan Community School witnessed 11 of its brightest students receive hard-earned diplomas during its eighth grade commencement on May 27 at the Korean Presbyterian Church in Chinatown.

Led by school principal Arden E. Smith, school officials, along with parents, relatives, and friends, recognized and praised the students for their accomplishments.

Aside from their diplomas, the students were also recipients of various awards, including the NJFL, MathCounts, Presidential, Principal’s List, and Honor Roll.

Spearheading the cast of recipients were Soo Ji Ha and O’Ronnia Sikayun, who were both honored as valedictorians of the graduating class.

Soo also earned the MathCounts and “A” Honor awards.

Meanwhile, Sikayun also bagged other awards, including the Principal’s List.

For her part, Soleana Demapan was declared class salutatorian after posting the second highest Grade Point Average. She also made the fourth quarter “A” Honor Roll.

The three were also recipients of the NJFL and Presidential awards. Sikayun and Demapan were also members of Advanced Band.

Other graduates include Kaito Ching, Luis Chung, Vianka Johnson, Nam Hoon Kim, Kevin Lazaro, Philip Nekai, Cayla Sablan, and Wen Hui Ye.

Recognized for enrolling at the school from Kindergarten to eighth grade were Chung, Lazaro, and Wen. Chung, Nam, and Ching were also members of Advanced Band.

Other members of the “A” Honor Roll were Wen and Nam, while Lazaro, Johnson, and Chung made up the “B” Honor Roll cast.
