MEMORIAL DEDICATION SET

As part of the Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Battles of Saipan and Tinian, the Marianas Memorial for Chamorro and Carolinian war dead will be dedicated on Sunday, June 13, 2004, with a special Mass at American Memorial Park.

A public reading of all names engraved on the memorial will begin at 8 a.m. Mass will begin at 9am. The Marianas Memorial is dedicated to Chamorros and Carolinians who lost their lives as a result of war-related causes between June 11, 1944, and July 4, 1946.

The government of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. National Park Service invite the public to attend.

ATTENTION, WAR BABIES!

All residents born in the Northern Marianas in the year 1944, also known as “War Babies,” will be honored during this year’s parade on Tuesday, June 15, to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Battles of Saipan and Tinian. An organizational meeting for all “War Babies” will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 11:30am at the DCCA Office on Aging in China Town.
