GCS Kindergarten ends school year
The 2004 Kindergarten class of the Grace Christian Academy ended the school year last Tuesday evening with a graduation ceremony at the GCA Auditorium.
The 40 pupils sat before the stage as the school’s 5th graders opened the ceremony with the U.S. and CNMI anthems. Krisvel Eugenio, one of the 5th graders, welcomed the graduates to the 1st grade level.
GCA teacher Melissa Wilhelmi then led everyone in a short prayer, followed soon after by the opening remarks of GCA principal Faith Dela Rosa. In a unique twist, Dela Rosa asked the graduates to repeat after her, saying thanks to Jesus, parents and teachers.
“We are here to commend the parents, faculty and staff for a great year. These little ones are ready to move on to the next school year as 1st graders,” said Dela Rosa.
Pastor Beatrice Tualatai, who wanted to leave the graduates with a message that they will carry along with them to their first year in elementary school, related a story by Max Lucado called You Are Special, comparing it to the biblical story of Joseph and his father Jacob.
Concluding her message, Tualatai reminded the children of their importance to the people around them.
“Doesn’t matter what you have. Doesn’t matter what kind of wrong doings you did. Remember Jesus loves you. You are special tonight and your going to grow up to be good boys and girls,” said Tualatai.
The K5 Rapha and K5 Shalom classes then went onstage to perform their song. K5 Rapha graduates sang to In his Time, while the K5 Shalom graduates sang to Just Like You.
GCA president Pastor Raymond S. Kinsella, along with Dela Rosa, presented the diplomas to the pupils. Also on hand to help was Pastor Bod Anden, who prepared the Kindergarten slide show presentation for the graduates.
The kindergarten graduates closed the ceremony with another song, Lord Be Glorified. (Cassie Dlg Fejeran)
