PAWS names winners in photo tilt

In celebration of “Be kind to Animals Week” covering the period May 2-8, the Pet Assistance and Welfare Services held its second annual Photo Contest.

Thirty-eight photos were entered into the contest and were judged by Joseph Villagomez, General Manager of Tropical Color, Jack Hardy, General Manager of Saipan Photo Lab, and professional photographer, Del Benson. The photos were judged on composition, quality of the image, and artistry.

This years winners included Marlo Sarmiento (1st Place), Dianne Nottke (2nd Place), and Lorie DeMaine (3rd Place). Honorable mentions went to Diane Clayton, Gary Ramsey, Marcia Schultz, John Douglass; and last year’s winners Mike Tripp and Deborah Covington.

Winners were awarded a one-year free PAWS membership and a set of note cards that will be made from the winning photographs. The entire proceeds from the sale of the PAWS note cards will go to benefit the animals of Saipan.
