Vehicle hits pedestrian
A pedestrian was admitted to the Commonwealth Health Center Intensive Care Unit after suffering serious injuries when she was hit by a car while crossing a highway last Thursday night.
The incident occurred at 11:40pm.
Police reports indicated that 33-year-old male Zhou Su was traveling south on the outer lane of the 2W Highway in Gualo Rai in front of the Javili Store when he hit the victim, 26-year-old female Xue Jin Quan, with his champagne-colored 2001 Toyota Echo.
According to Department of Public Safety public information officer Thomas A. Blas Jr., the victim was crossing the road, heading east toward the Hansae garment area.
“Somehow, as the victim entered the inner lane, she darted back into the outer lane and was struck by the southbound vehicle,” he said in a statement.
Traffic investigators reportedly indicated that the cause of the crash was due to the pedestrian’s failure to cross at a designated crosswalk area. Other contributing factors included poor lighting at the area and lack of proper road markings.
The victim sustained serious head injuries, abrasions, and lacerations on the body.
