CNMI’s own Lynch accepted to 2 US Service Academies
Caroline Lynch, a December 2003 graduate from Saipan Southern High School, has been accepted into both the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. Lynch is the daughter of Kevin A. Lynch of Saipan and Margaret T. Lynch of Minnesota.
“What an amazing young woman,” said CNMI Resident Rep. Pete A. Tenorio about Lynch. “I am honored to have nominated her to the U.S. service academies. Her academic and extracurricular records are outstanding. She is an excellent example of the students in our public schools.”
In Lynch’s letter to Tenorio applying for a nomination, she wrote: “Attending one of the academies and serving in the military is my way of repaying the countless men and women who have served our country and died to protect our freedoms, and the freedoms of others. There is no achievement more noble than having served one’s country unless it is to have served it well.”
While on Saipan, Lynch attended Northern Marianas Academy and Southern High School. She participated in volleyball as a member of the Hornets Team and outrigger canoeing with both Marianas and Southern High Schools. She also participated in the Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps program.
Lynch has chosen the Naval Academy and will begin her four-year stay at the end of June, when she will be sworn in to the military.
Meanwhile, Matthew J. Kirschenheiter, son of Ronald G. and Gayle Ann Kirschenheiter of Saipan will be graduating from the Naval Academy on May 28th. Adrian A. Rempillo Evangelista, son of Antonio B. and Evelyn Rempillo Evangelista of Tinian, is finishing his Junior year at the Naval Academy. The CNMI has slots open for nomination at the Military Academy at West Point, New York, and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
