The Fishing Base across Kristo Rai Church in Garapan will be closed from May 16 to July 5 to give way to the upcoming 2004 Liberation Day Festival.

According to Liberation Day committee safety and security chairman Joe Flores, the temporary use of the area for the festivities has been approved by the Marianas Public Land Authority and other “appropriate” CNMI agencies.

“For safety reasons, during the preparation of the grounds and during the Liberation Day carnival events, the Fishing Base Boat Launching Facility will be closed,” he said. “Fishermen are asked to use other boat launching facilities until July 6.”

The festival will begin on June 4, 2004 and will run through to July 5, 2004.
