Traffic citation yields pot
A 21-year-old man, who was found with marijuana in the company of two other male individuals yesterday, told police that he grows his own weed and did not get it from any other source.
The suspect, identified as Peterkin Floresca Tababa, offered the explanation to a patrol officer, who had discovered a plastic bag containing green leafy substances inside the vehicle he was driving on 2W Highway in Puerto Rico.
Public Safety spokesperson Lt. Pete C. Muña reported that Tababa and his companions, 21-year-old Lester N. Olkerill and a 16-year-old male, were pulled over for a violator stop east of the Kaiser cement company when the patrol officer smelled a strong odor of what seemed like marijuana smoke emanating from their vehicle.
The suspects’ vehicle was pulled over after it was sighted allegedly traveling on the opposite lane, Muña noted.
According to a police report, Tababa appeared nervous as the patrol officer approached the vehicle. When the patrol officer leaned closer, he reportedly spotted a pair of nunchakus and a plastic bag with green leafy substance sticking out from the driver’s seat.
Asked about the contents of the bag, Tababa reportedly replied that “he did not get his weed from anybody, he grows his own.”
Muña also quoted Tababa as allegedly saying that “the green leafy substance belongs to one of the passengers of the vehicle.”
The patrol officer then informed the three suspects of their alleged violations and placed them under arrest. (MM)
