Japanese community ‘cheers up’ Saipan
At least 230 Japanese, including 80 actors and actresses, gathered at the Nikko Hotel Saipan Tuesday night to raise funds for the Japanese Association of Saipan, while helping revive the local tourism industry.
Nikko Hotel Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing Hisafumi Sano said the “Gambare Saipan” or “Cheer Up Saipan” was aimed at raising money by bringing in Japanese visitors to the island.
“In times like this, the Japanese join hands to work together and help each other. The Gambare Saipan is to help the economic situation of Saipan and to support the CNMI tourism industry,” said Sano.
The Nikko Hotel invited the Japanese Association and 80 actors and actresses from Japan to perform for the benefit show. Proceeds of the dinner-show, which was facilitated by the First Impression, will go to the association.
Sano said this is not the first time that Nikko Hotel and the Association have invited Japanese performers to the CNMI. In previous years, Japanese actors and actresses were brought in to the island to raise funds for the organization.
The guests performed a string of musical number and dance performances to the delight of the crowd that included officials of the association as well as members of the Japanese community on Saipan.
