Man loses valuables to thieves
Valuable pieces of jewelry were swiped from inside a Chalan Kanoa residence Monday by still unidentified suspects, police said.
Eleven gold rings, necklaces, a gold bracelet, a wristwatch, a cigarette lighter, and a CD/cassette player are reported missing from the house of Northern Marianas College Director for Center for Abilities Studies John Joyner.
The burglary and theft incident is pending investigation at the Department of Public Safety.
Beware of strangers
A lady who refused to let a stranger use her telephone was allegedly attacked inside her very home Monday, police reported yesterday.
The 41-year-old Garapan resident told police she was not only assaulted but also robbed by the suspect and his companion.
In a preliminary report, authorities said that when the woman wouldn’t let the man come into her house, he briefly went away only to come back with a lady companion.
From there, the pair allegedly began physically attacking the victim. The suspects reportedly went away with woman’s $1,000-worth necklace, which was snatched right from her neck.
The victim is said to be suffering from moderate injuries on her facial and body area.
Meanwhile, the suspects face charges of assault and battery, aggravated assault and robbery, according to police.
Men gang-up on roommate
A disturbance at the UIC garment factory employees’ sleeping quarters early yesterday morning led to the arrest of two roommates, who are charged on allegations of disturbing the peace and assault and battery.
Police arrested 34-year-old Huaqin Bi and 35-year-old Peng Tinci. The UIC employees are accused of physically beating up another roommate.
Police records reveal that the victim, a 21-year-old UIC employee, was sleeping inside a room the three were supposed to share when an argument between the three broke.
The victim was apparently complaining about the noise the two men were generating at such an ungodly hour.
Mr. Bi and Tinci reportedly had female guests inside the bedroom despite a company policy that forbids the entry of women inside the sleeping quarters.
According to police, the victim had asked his two roommates to take their conversation outside.
But the suspects apparently did not appreciate the warning and allegedly started beating the victim up.
Police said the 21-year-old was kicked several times on the body area.
The two were arrested for disturbing the peace and assault and battery. They were admitted to the Division of Corrections to be booked and detained.
