The Man from Talofofo tops RGA March tourney
Splitting the fairways with his drives, a delicate soft touch around the greens and a putting we haven’t seen in decades puts veteran Serafin Pablo atop the Refalawasch Golf Association March qualifying tournament.
With his assortment of shot making and aggressive putting, Pablo put the final touches last Sunday (3-11-01) to win the qualifying tournament with a strong 78 gross. A senior golfer with a handicap 9 netted him a beauty net 69 to topple Sonny Flores who came in second with a net 70.
New member Frank Sablan came in third after firing an 88 gross with 16 handicap to finish at net 72 to beat Jess Wabol based on score card play-off. Muscle man Tars Olopai and February Ace Tony Satur finished in 5th and 6th place respectively.
For the accuracy department, Sonny Flores placed the closest on hole #3 while Tony Satur knocked it close on the tough par 3 #15. All top finishers were presented with money prizes for the days’ efforts.
