Looks can sometimes kill
If looks could only kill, a 44-year-old Chuukese male would never had to use his slingshot to inflict pain on his neighbor early Wednesday at a village in Kagman.
Up to this very moment, victim Ambros Delong, 33, is still at a loss as to why Promise Hattere hit him with slingshot bullets that morning when he was outside his house collecting trash.
Mr. Delong told police both him and the suspect locked gazes for a couple of minutes, after the suspect caught him staring at the way he aimed for his chickens using a slingshot.
The victim admitted he found it strange that Mr. Hattere would shoot the fowls while he fed them outside his residence.
It was then that the suspect began firing his slingshot at Mr. Delong, hitting the victim at least six times on the lower lip area, and five times on his back and leg areas, according to police records.
But the victim maintained, he was not aware what had provoked Mr. Hattere from acting that way towards him.
Irked at his neighbor’s unnatural behavior, Mr. Delong also picked up some rocks nearby and threw it at the suspect.
When police arrived at the scene, both men were found struggling on the highway.
Authorities arrested Mr. Hattere on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Photos of Mr. Delong’s injuries were taken for evidence. (MM)
