Couple loses pair of watches

A Saipan couple complained to police of a theft and burglary incident at their residence in Koblerville, reporting that someone had tampered with their brown private drawer filled with valuables.

According to the victims, at around 1am, they were sleeping inside the bedroom in the same building as the Koblerville Barber Shop when they heard a commotion in the living room.

When their telephone rang, the wife rose from bed to answer the call when she noticed that the sliding window by their front door was open.

Alarmed, she went inside the room to tell her husband of what she had found.

The husband then inspected around the area and detected the drawer was missing several items.

The couple claimed stolen were G-shock and Seiko watches that cost a total of $400.

Man nabbed for reckless driving

A 23-year-old Chamorro male was jailed last week for his alleged irresponsible road conduct when he drove on a public highway under the influence alcohol and drugs.

According to police reports, the suspect, Patrick Cepeda Camacho, refused to submit to a drug test when he was apprehended by authorities last week near the San Vicente Round House.

The suspect was reportedly driving recklessly back and forth within the area, in between lanes.

Police had to pull over to the right side of the road too avoid colliding with the subject, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes.

When authorities finally caught up with the alleged traffic violator, they were immediately able to detect strong odor of alcohol from his exhale breath.

He was then asked to step out of his vehicle, where a sobriety test was administered on him.

The suspect was immediately taken into police custody for charges of reckless driving and DUI. He was further subjected to another sobriety examination at the central police station.

When he was about to be admitted to the Division of Corrections, police detected a burnt piece of marijuana cigarette on his pocket.

Illegal possession of controlled substances was added on to Mr. Camacho’s list of charges hurled against the suspect.
