A rough encounter between a vehicle and a pedestrian over the weekend resulted in the demise of a 47-year-old Filipino national, who died of multiple fractures on his shin area.

According to police records, Saturday’s auto-pedestrian fatality involved two housemates residing in the Babauta household in San Roque.

The victim, Nilo Amano Rapsing, was reportedly leading a 37-year-old Filipino woman operating a red sedan to park in an ample space within the residential area when the unexpected incident occurred.

Initial police investigation showed that the driver of the vehicle was attempting to park her car when the victim, squatting with the bulk portion of his body invisible from the driver’s view, was struck by the moving automobile.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes said authorities who responded to the accident immediately transported Mr. Rapsing to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.

However, doctors pronounced him dead a little later after his arrival, noting severe multiple injuries the victim sustained in the shin area.

Police reported the red sedan driven by the woman operator also suffered moderate damages on its frontal portion.

Authorities noted that the victim, before the tragedy struck, was instructing the driver to move her car forward.

DPS has employed its investigators to dig deeper on the case. (MM)
