Council honors youngest retiree
The Sixth Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council handed out commemorative resolutions to the youngest government worker and with the longest government service retirees.
The council signed the resolutions and handed them out to the youngest retiree, Florence John Alfonso Sokau and holder of longest government service, Gregorio T. Sablan.
In a Municipal Council resolution, Chairman Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and Vice-Chair David A. Indalecio acknowledged Mr. Sokau’s achievement and dedication to his work during his government service.
Mr. Guerrero noted that despite establishment of NMI Retirement Fund in October 1980 and with only 1,451 retirees, Mr. Sokau was able to retire from his service last October 2000.
“Mr. Sokau’s love, dedication, and hard work he has demonstrated during his service earned him the youngest member of the NMIRF,” the resolution reads.
The commemorative resolution is in honor of his exemplary achievement and services rendered to the Commonwealth government.
Mr. Torres who retired from the service on December 1992 served for 42 years and among the 1,451 original members of the NMIRF.
