No money? That’s It!
Dispute over money resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old Chamorro male Friday, after the suspect allegedly flung a McDonald’s toy at his wife’s face for failure to produce cash.
A Tanapag-based married couple reportedly got caught in a heated argument when John Riack Jones at 12 midnight started demanding for more money, in addition to the $30-cash his wife gave him earlier that day.
According to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes, the husband refused to accept his wife’s explanation that she had no more money and instead ordered her to borrow from his mother.
When Mrs. Jones failed to heed his demand, the suspect then started trashing their living room and kitchen furnishings.
He even picked up a McDonald’s toy owned by one of their children and threw it at Mrs. Jones’ face.
Mr. Jones also threatened his wife that if she did not come up with the money, he was set to leave her.
Seizing a chance to escape, the victim sneaked to the neighbor’s house to seek refuge, where she requested to use the phone to call for police assistance.
When police arrived at the Jones’ Tanapag residence, the suspect was arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
