Continental named ‘Airline of the Year’
The Air Transport World Magazine has named Continental Airlines as “Airline of the Year,” the second time it received the recognition in five years.
In 1996, Continental also bagged the honors awarded by the aviation industry’s leading monthly trade publication, citing the airline’s “employee-friendly culture.”
“It is no accident that Continental has the best labor relations of any US major hub-and-spoke carrier,” the magazine noted.
“Continental has defied the odds and continues to excel in every aspect of the business. Small wonder that other airlines have had to pull seats out of their planes to compete with Continental, which continues to generate a unit revenue premium versus the industry,” said the magazine on its February issue.
The publication also cited merits to the airline company’s “superior passenger service” especially on its efforts to accommodate business customers.
Air Transport World’s cover story also details Continental’s “ability to perform at a superior level over an extended period of time.”
Continental Airlines is the 5th largest airline in the US, offering more than 2,200 departures daily to 136 domestic and 92 international destinations.
Operating hubs in Newark, Houston, Cleveland, Guam, Continental serves more international cities than other US carrier, including extensive services throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
The company is ranked the nation’s number one airline in customer satisfaction for long and short haul flights by Frequent Flyer magazine and J.D. Power and Associates.
Continental has received numerous awards for its BusinessFirst premium cabin, OnePass frequent flyer program and overall operations and management.
The airline is headquartered in Guam and operates a Pacific hub from the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport.
