Army of pro-life advocates to march against abortion
A least 1,500 members of various organizations, students and Church leaders are expected to participate in a prayer vigil on Sunday to strongly oppose abortion practices on the island.
The Christians for Life, a group of Churches and organizations in the Commonwealth have established themselves to speak out for the unborn, following recent reports on continued increase of abortion-related activities in various areas of the CNMI.
Rev. Raymond Kinsela, who heads the organization, said the group hopes that the community will take a united stand against abortion and join the prayer vigil which will be held at the American Memorial Park at 6:00pm on January 21.
The vigil, he said, is part of the united stand of the Christians for Life against abortion, adding that such practice should not be allowed to protect and preserve the sanctity of life and to pray for the unborn.
The following day, Rev. Kinsela said the same group will lead thousands of community members to stage a March for Life, beginning at 6:00pm from the American Memorial Park to the DFS Galleria and back to the park where the Celebration of Life Rally will take place consequently.
The group is comprised of representatives from the Archdiocese of Chalan Kanoa, Grace Christian Ministries, Saipan Evangelical Holiness Church, New Covenant Life Church, Jesus Is Lord Church, First Filipino Methodist Church, Korean Full Gospel Church, Cornerstone Christian Church, and KSAI.
For the whole month of January which is billed as Celebration of Life Month, the group conducted several activities in efforts to educate the community to the plight of the unborn and to reaffirm the value of Article 1, Section 12 of the CNMI Constitution which bans the practice of abortion in the Commonwealth.
In addition to this, the group hopes also to provide alternative solutions to crisis pregnancy which is believed to be the primary reason as to why women resort to abortion.
