Celebrities to wed in Rota
Famed Japanese entertainer, Goro Noguchi, will marry television personality Yuri Mitsui, in Rota, on February 15. International attention is expected.
“We’re very pleased that these well-known personalities have chosen Rota for their wedding,” said Rota Mayor Benjamin T. Manglona. “There could hardly be a more romantic place for matrimony than our beautiful Island of Rota.”
The 45 year-old Goro Noguchi is an entertainment icon in Japan. “Goro” as he is popularly known, has for years been a leading performer in television dramas, movies, theatrical plays and concerts.
The singer and actor made his debut in 1971. He has won every major Japanese talent award.
Born in Mino City, Gifu, Japan, Goro won Japan’s Pops Music Award for five consecutive years. He has also performed in the United States and Europe and is well known in international capitals.
The bride-to-be, the 33 year-old Yuri Mitsui, made her debut in Weekly Playboy Magazine in 1991. The talented beauty went on to work in Japanese radio and television.
She has appeared as a disk jockey and master of ceremonies for several major programs. Ms. Mitsui has also done commercial work for leading Japanese companies Nissan, Panasonic, and Kirin Beer.
“There will be media attention for this event. We welcome the opportunity to showcase Rota’s natural beauty and traditional hospitality,” said Mr. Manglona
Mr. Noguchi and Ms. Mitsui chose Rota not only for its tropical setting, but also because they wanted traditional Chamorro elements in their wedding.
“Goro and Yuri’s marriage will be performed here in lovely Rota among the wonders of God’s creation. Like beautiful and timeless Rota, we know their marriage will always remain blessed,” said the mayor.
The celebrity duo and their wedding party of approximately 90 people will stay at the Coconut Village Hotel and the Rota Hotel. The hotels will also provide transportation for the wedding party and host the poolside wedding dinner.
“We’re quite excited to be involved in this wedding. Without a doubt the event will draw favorable attention to Rota. Our unique island offers something special to it guests and visitors. There’s a tropical magic here,” said Masanori Inaba, Coconut Village General Manager.
Fukada Wedding Service, with offices in Saipan, Guam, and Tokyo assists with the Noguchi-Mitsue nuptials. Novel Corporation of Japan, and Rota’s Coconut Village Hotel join to cater the wedding lunch.
The Kana Group of Denpasarin Bali, Indonesia, provides overall coordination for Rota’s celebrity wedding. The Coconut Village and the Rota Mayor’s Office also assist with the preparations.
Mr. Manglona will officiate the marriage ceremony. “This is a first-of-its-kind event for Rota. “But it may not be the last wedding of this sort. We see Rota developing as a marriage capital.”
