Land sought for Saipan football field
Local officials have signified support for the development of sports and recreation in the CNMI by requesting the Marianas Public Land Board of Directors to identify and designate a piece of public land as the site for the Saipan football field.
The Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council has prodded public land officials to set aside one hectare of land for the Saipan Football Association’s use.
The organization continues to utilize the Commonwealth Ports Authority open fields to hold its games and competitions due to lack of a permanent venue for the sports activity.
Council Chair Gregorio Deleon Guerrero offered his endorsement to the sports association in the group’s endeavor to introduce, promote and strengthen the game of football for the youth and in the process enhancing strong leadership, sportsmanship, discipline, and other positive values.
Meanwhile, the municipal council also adopted a resolution commending the Public School System Board of Education members and education commissioner Rita H. Inos for conducting groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of the high schools in Kagman and Koblerville, and other PSS projects in the CNMI.
According to Mr. Deleon Guerrero, the prior leadership of BOE and Commissioner have resulted in many improvements in the local education sector.
