New Hopwood exit way installed
The Saipan Mayor’s Office has extended its arm to assist the Hopwood Junior High School administration ease the traffic congestion experienced by Chalan Piao motorists traveling the road to the HJHS campus during rush hours.
Saipan Mayor Jose C. Sablan has volunteered services to Hopwood Principal David Borja and Vice Principal Alfredo I. Guerrero to install a new entrance and exit road at Saipan’s lone junior high school by lending the agency’s heavy equipment and community service division to open up a new gate.
From August to December of this year, community members have complained about the traffic jam generated by the limited entrance and exit way especially during student drop-off and pick-up times.
Before, the exit and entrance way, operating as a single two-way road, was located about 300 yards away from the parents drop-off point, which was blamed for the traffic congestion.
According to the mayor’s office, with the new roadway now in place, the traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up hours has greatly improved.
The success of the project was as a result of a joint effort by the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Public School System.
