Toyota’s Agasang scores 30 to defeat Mobil
Microl Toyota handed Mobil their first defeat of the season with an 86-72 decision. Mobil coming into the game have a 4-0 win loss record. Mobil Oil one of the two teams who beat the power house Tan Holdings during their last meeting was highly favored to defeat team Toyota.
Toyota playing coach Abner Venus however came into the game with a new strategy and that was to feed Toyota Wheels lady player Maryann Agasang in the low post. Agasang scored the first points of the game for Toyota and increase their lead to as much as 10 points at half time.
Mobil Oil had only 17 points coming from their scoring machine Danny Illahi who averages over 30 points a game. Jun Galzote helped out Illahi with 16 points in a loosing cause.
The hero of the night was Toyota Wheels lady player Maryann Agasang who scored 30 points. So far this is a record for a lady player to score more than 20 points in a single in the Co-Ed Mobil Oil Basketball league.
George Deguzman pumped in 40 points to help Agasang and his team to earn their second victory of the season.
Maryann sank most of the shots that she had attempted. She was 15 out of 20.
Meanwhile, Tan Holdings defeated CUC 91-82 in the curtain raiser of the night in the Mobil Oil Micronesia Co-Ed Basketball league at the NMC gym.
Tan Holdings point guard led his team with 24 points, followed by Manny Basa and Ronald Delos Reyes with 16 points apiece.
CUC had 30 points coming from George Poquiz and 23 points coming from Allan Librea in a loosing cause.
