3 Hopwood Jr. High students arrested

Three students of Hopwood Junior High were arrested Wednesday after they took turns in assaulting and beating up a 17-year-old at the YCO hardware store compound in Chalan Piao at around 12:52 p.m.

Police spokesperson Rose Ada said the victim and two of his companions were dropped off at Hopwood and attempted to enter the school premises but were denied by a staff.

As they were about to leave the premises, one of the three suspects tried to pick up a fight. The victim and his companions simply walked away and ignored the challenge.

When they were already at the YCO compound, the three suspects followed them and immediately, one of the boys hit the victim with a baseball bat. The victim suffered injuries on his leg and head and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Two of the suspects were charged before the Superior Court with assault and battery while the one who used the baseball bat was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
