Motorists passing through Nang Ocha road in San Vicente may soon heave a sigh of relief with the improvement project that will be undertaken by the Department of Public Works.

Rep. Martin B. Ada, who has been pushing the project, said DPW has been given the greenlight to begin the project after “a lot of the bureaucratic red tape” were cleared.

The plan has received funding from the federal government under the Covenant 702/Capital Improvement Projects program of the CNMI.

Improvement of Nang Ocha will not only benefit residents of the area, but also tourists and visitors who frequent the condominium and hotel there that were built in the late 80’s, he said in a statement.

Mr. Ada, who is from San Vicente, credited his fellow representatives from Precinct 1 and several departments and agencies of the executive branch for lobbying hard to seek funding for the project.

“We from Precinct 1 are vigorously following up on more than 20 different road projects that have long been overdue. We will continue to follow-up until all the much-needed infrastructure are put into place,” he said in the statement.

The lawmaker added, “everyone knows that villages in Precinct 1 are not getting any smaller, they are only getting bigger by the day. We need the help of… agencies to get the rest of the road projects done.”
