SYBL games kick off tomorrow
This Saturday, Sept. 9, marks the seventh year of the Saipan Youth Football Season and Jamboree Exhibition Games which will be held at the Airport Field.
The Saipan Youth Football League (SYFL) board of directors, coaches, advisors, players and their families would like to invite the public to participate in the opening ceremony and watch Saipan teams from four districts and three age divisions as they demonstrate their football talents on the Airport Sports field.
The opening ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. with an invocation by Fr. Blockley and color guard by the Marianas High School JROTC. Billy Fortune will be the master of ceremony of the opening day program and there will be remarks from SYFL president Karl T. Reyes, Gov. Pedro Tenorio, and Lt. Gov. Jesus R. Sablan as well as other representatives from both the public and private sector have been invited to join in this celebration of youth, teamwork and healthy sports activities.
The Jamboree Exhibition Games will follow the opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and will pit the 9 to 11-year-old Peewee teams of Central vs. Eastern followed by Western vs. Northern.
For the 12 to 14-year-old Midget division, it will be Northern vs. Central and the Eastern vs. Western. In the 15 to 17-year-old Bantam division it will be Northern vs. Eastern and then Central vs. Western.
