Federal labor blunder

Over 200 Eurotex employees engaged in another strike. This time, they held a seven mile march to Capitol Hill beginning at DFS in Garapan.

Local labor officials came down to listen to their plight. But the case belongs to federal labor who allegedly promised payment by last Sunday only to fail the striking employees.

Local labor officials, including the attorney for the striking employees have placed calls to regional federal labor offices in Honolulu and Los Angeles to which they haven’t heard an answer. Perhaps federal labor field representatives have an explanation for their rather lethargic handling of this situation.

Interestingly, if it is the CNMI government who fails in its fiduciary responsibility on similar cases, it becomes fodder for detractors of these isles. Federal Tattle-Tale Squad are usually the first to send e-mails and faxes to our detractors further highlighting it with unsolicited and often racist comments.

It’s rather intriguing though how the law enforcement arm of federal labor here has failed the striking employees. If they were agile in collecting fines but fragile in meeting their end of the bargain, then it’s a tale of its sterling efficiency where issues warrant resolution.

It is our hope that federal labor resolves the plight of the more than 200 Eurotex employees. They want answers from you on non-payment of wages, not another publicity stunt in national dailies that is given the usual spin of abuses in paradise. After all, the issue is on your side of the court. Answers, anybody? Si Yuus Maase`!
