17 participate in kids fishing derby

The 2nd Annual International Children’s Fishing Derby was held yesterday with 17 kids participating in the yearly event aimed at attracting youngsters into the sports.
Amid cloudy skies and little whitecaps in the water, these young anglers had a good time trying their best to get the best catch for the day aboard the Sea Star, courtesy of Sea Star Inc.
Just prior to the event, participants were given the official rules governing the tournament by derby official, Mac Chargualaf.
They were also given instructions on how to operate the reel as well as how to bait the hooks.
The following are the results for the derby:

1st Prize – Single Biggest Fish
Josh Sikyama 10.5 inches
2nd Prize – Single Biggest Fish
