TCGCC poised to grant new casino license
The Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission is set to issue a license to Tokyo-based Kirino Consultants Inc. in 60 days after investigators have wrapped up their background check on the Japanese investor.
Aside from establishing a casino, Kirino Consultants will set up a domestic and international airline based in Tinian to service the firm’s casino customers as well as the local market.
TCGCC investigators are currently in Tokyo to check the company’s history and business operations in Japan. “I also intend to send other members of the Commission so that they can see Kirino’s business activities to help them in making their decision,” said TCGCC Chair Martin DLG San Nicolas.
Kirino has already paid the $350,000 application and investigation fee to the Commission last month.
Koichi Kirino, a representative of the Japanese consulting firm, already met with TCGCC representatives as well as local officials. The company is also looking into the possibility of setting up a retirement home in partnership with other Japanese firms.
With the entry of Kirino Consultants in the casino business in Tinian, the gaming officials are now left with a difficult task of selecting who should get the remaining four casino licenses from the seven companies that have expressed interest in investing on the island.
Earlier, two hotel casino companies based in Taiwan visited Tinian to discuss with local officials possible casino investment in the island-municipality.
Due to the increase in visitor arrivals from Taiwan to Tinian, representatives from Sky Hawk Casino & Hotel and Pacific Casino & Hotel expressed interest in joining the gaming industry in the island.
With the renewed interest of foreign investors to set up business on the island, the Commission started implementing its training program with the recent hiring of a consulting firm that will assist them in carrying out their regulatory functions.
