22 & Under Basketball League Results (July 17, 2000, Ada Gym)
Sunrisers 71, Fanihi 70
The San Vicente Sunrisers eliminated Team Fanihi from the championship round in the 1st BANMI 22 & Under Basketball League at the Ada Gym Monday night to earn the right to get their revenge against the APC Co. Ltd. San Antonio Sixers.
Team Fanihi was leading most of the way but run out of gas in the dying seconds of the game. Fanihi was ahead by as much as 30 points in the first half. Going into the second half of the ball game, Fanihi enjoyed a 15-point lead 47-32.
Second half was a different story for San Vicente Sunriser’s play maker Jason Fransworth. Fransworth’s never-say-die attitude boosted the morale of his teammates. Sunrisers played solid defense to catch up with team Fanihi in the last two minutes of the ball game with both teams trading baskets.
Fransworth was the hero of the game when he sank the winning basket with 5 seconds remaining in regulation to give Sunrisers a 71-70 victory over Team Fanihi.
Fransworth sank 5 3-pointers and finished the game with 38 points. Jawn Joyner managed to pumped in 10 points and played good defense.
Dennis Camacho led Fanihi with 21 points followed by Pat Guerrero with 16 points in a losing cause.
