The Summer Sports Camp conducted by the DYS and Sports and Recreation completed its first week of activities teaching skills in basketball, baseball (teeball), volleyball, soccer, canoeing, golf, tae kwon do, tennis and table tennis. In addition, Public Safety and DYS presented brief sessions on violence and prevention.

The sports campers were shuttled around to different venues on Friday to learn new skills not available at the gym. Some students went to the beach to learn outrigger canoeing from the Canoe Association, others to the American Memorial Park for tennis by the Tennis Association. NMI golfers taught techniques at the Dan Dan Driving Range. Those who remained at the gym learned table tennis and tae kwon do.

The camp continues this with baseball, teeball and basketball on Monday and Tuesday, volleyball and soccer on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will be an introduction to other different sports.
