RP Consulate to hold civil service exams on Saipan
The Philippine Consulate is opening the door for Filipino contract workers on Saipan wishing to pursue a career in public office as it holds the Civil Service Eligibility Examination on both professional and sub professional levels on the island.
Saipan is one of the three areas in the Asia-Pacific Region considered by the Philippine Civil Service Commission for the overseas holding of the career service examination.
The Philippine CSC will also hold the examination in Malaysia and Singapore where there are large concentration of Filipino professionals and technical experts.
The examination in the Northern Marianas will be administered on July 30, 2000, Sunday, from 6:00am to 1:00pm at the Marianas High School in Susupe.
The sub-professional level will be given to those who have at least 72 units in college while the professional level will be given to applicants who are degree holders, or have completed four-year courses.
The examination will cover areas that include vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, paragraph organization, reading comprehension, analogy, logic, and numerical reasoning, as well as clerical operations for sub professional level.
Both professional and sub professional levels of the examination will have questions on general information on areas like Philippine Constitution, , Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, peace and human rights issues and concepts, and environment management and protection.
A review class will be conducted on July 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on July 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Filipino Resource Center in Nauru Building in Susupe.
In order to estimate the expected number of examinees, the Consulate has urged interested Filipinos in the Northern Marianas to sign up at the consular office.
Qualified examinees can now file their application form and pay the admission fee of $10 at the Philippine Consulate. Deadline for the submission of application will be June 30, 2000. Room assignments will be posted on examination day.
The holding of the exam in the CNMI was worked out by the Consulate in collaboration with the Commission on Filipino Overseas under the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Civil Service Commission, in line with the centennial celebration of the CSC year.
