BANMI 22 & under Basketball League kicked off its regular season last Saturday, May 13, 2000 at the Garapan Basketball Court. Only four teams participated on this event and they are as follows: Team Fanihi sponsored by Speaker Ben Fitial & Vice Speaker Alejo Mendiola, San Yicente Sunrisers sponsored by Rep. Martin Ada & Rep. David Apatang, Kagman Cougars sponsored by Rep. Martin Ada & Rep. David Apatang, & San Antonio Sixers.
First Game was between Fanihi vs. San Vicente Sunrisers, Fanihi defeated Sunrisers 67-55 in the opening game. Dennis Camacho pumped in 27 points, while Patrick Guerrero helped out Camacho with 13 points. J. Sablan was the leading scorer for Sunrisers with 19 points, while Jawn Joyner having an off night only contributed 9 points in a losing cause.
Only the first half was played at the Garapan Basketball Court due to the problem with the lights. Second half was played at the Civic Center Basketball Court.
Sixers 81, Cougars 65
Second Game was between San Antonio Sixerg vs. Kagman Cougars. Dave Sablan came out strong and poured in 29 points while John Sablan supported Dave with 20 points. Mlike Dodge pumped in 14 points and backed up by Ad Arriola with 12 points in a losing cause.
