The Saipan Rotary Club will host its first ever 2000 Fishing Derby tomorrow and Sunday starting 6:00 a.m

All fishes caught for the day is due no later than 6:00 p.m. Cash prizes will depend on the category of fish caught.

For billfish catchers, the first prize winner will receive $1,000. Second and third place winners will receive $750 and $500, respectively.

The leading three participants to catch the heaviest mahi and tuna will receive $750, $500, and $300 for both categories.

Anglers are advised to attend a briefing today at the Smiling Cove Marina around 5:30 p.m.

The Rotary is requesting anglers to consider donating their catch to the club.

The fee to enter the weekend’s derby is at $100 for a boat of four people.

This first fishing derby was made possible through Rotary’s two major sponsors, Shell Marianas and GTE Pacifica, and the Division of Boating Safety, Marianas Visitors Authority, National Parks and Recreation, and Division of Fish and Wildlife.
