When police responded to an emergency call on April 15, 2000 at around 12:30 p.m., they thought it was just one of those domestic violence complaints.

They later on discovered a bigger catch — 20 plants of marijuana within the area where Frankie Babauta Castro lives in Capitol Hill.

The Attorney General’s Office immediately filed charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of marijuana and disturbing the peace against Mr. Castro.

It all started as a quarrel between husband and wife — Faustina got into an argument with her husband Frankie who then started smashing things inside the house.

The quarrel did not end there. Frankie assaulted his wife, got a knife and chased her. Luckily for Faustina, she was able to hide inside the bathroom as she screamed for help. One of their children ran for help outside.

Frankie had already calmed down when the police arrived. Police later on found out from Faustina that her husband has been selling marijuana despite her pleas to stop the illegal business.

A search on the nearby area in the apartment where the Castro family lives showed more marijuana plants measuring about one foot in height. But Frankie denied he owned the marijuana plants when confronted by the police.
