HANMI lauds efforts to bring in additional flights
The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands (HANMI) is praising the efforts of the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino to increase the number of visitors to the CNMI. Three months of talks between the Tinian Dynasty and Mandarin Airlines has resulted in a deal that will see direct flights between Taipei and Saipan.
“This is such a great effort by a member of the private sector, and it’s going to help the CNMI,” said HANMI president Ronald Sablan.
“We’re also very grateful to Mandarin Airlines for making this happen. This shows a real commitment from them to promote the Northern Mariana Islands as a world-class tourist destination,” he continued. “HANMI supports the Dynasty in bringing in these additional guests from a market that has not been fully tapped into.”
Service to the CNMI from Taipei in the form of two direct flights each week is slated to begin May 1st. The flights are expected to bring approximately 300 additional visitors every week. The first Mandarin Airlines flight from Taipei will arrive this Thursday, April 13, at 7:30 a.m. (local time).
Dignitaries from Taiwan and the CNMI took part in a ceremony in Taiwan earlier this week, and will be on board the symbolic first flight between Taipei and Saipan.
