U.S. District Court Judge Alex R. Munson freed yesterday a Filipino couple facing insurance fraud charges on a bail of $10,000 each.
The two accused appeared during yesterday’s bail hearing after Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Seely filed the charges against the couple.
There was no detail on the criminal case, but it was believed the couple were involved in a heath insurance fraud.
The couple, both with immediate relative (I.R.) status in the CNMI, were allowed to post bail bond of $10,000 each, subject to several conditions.
They must surrender their passport to the court, and must ask for permission from the court when leaving off-island. They were also ordered not to speak about the case, nor get in touch with potential witnesses.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held next month on the case.
