NMA, MCS lead 1st Saipan school tennis tournament

The First Annual Saipan School Tennis Tournament was held Thursday at Coral Ocean Point Resort with Mount Carmel, Northern Marianas Academy, Saipan International School, and Whispering Palms participating the competition.

This was the culmination of a very successful tennis season. Northern Marianas Academy won the overall women’s team competition, and Mt. Carmel School won the overall men’s team competition.

Topping the women’s singles event is Kana Aikawa who defeated Hannah Borja 6-1. Second place went to Amanda Weindl who beat Rika Matsumoto, 6-0. Winning the number three women’s singles was Jennifer Angello who trounced Andi Negrete 6-1.

In the men’s singles event J. C Kim won over Alex Negrete, 6-0, while Seong Lee defeated Ashcon Mahmoudi, 5-4. Winning the number three men’s singles event was Mitchell Sinclair over Paul Oh, 3-2.
